Santamaria Night Walk Overview

Santamaria Night Walk is a 2-hour night walk in a small group with a tour guide and flashlights at Santamaria’s farm, located in the outskirts of Monteverde, Costa Rica, searching for nocturnal wild animals such as sloths and snakes in their natural habitat.

The Santamaria Night Walk tour is suitable for ages 6 and above.

Santamaria Night Walk Itinerary

You will join a group of six to twelve people led by a tour guide, who will give you an introduction before heading into the forest. Next, your tour guide will set the expectations on what you will potentially see on your night walk, based on the animal’s patterns and behaviors from previous nights.

Then, you will go on a light walk throughout the property’s trails, and you will stop at times when your tour guide finds animals to show you. Your tour guide will explain the natural history of the animal and will answer any questions you may have about that animal before moving on through the trail to find the next creature.

After approximately 1.5 hours of walking on the trails, you will head back to reception to wrap up the tour.

Santamaria Night Walk Prices

Santamaria Night Walk is $20 for residents (all ages), $18 for foreign kids (6-11 years old), and $28 for foreign adults (12 and up). These rates include transportation both ways, but they do not include taxes.

Note For Solo Travelers: We need at least two customers to operate this tour. If you are a solo traveler and there is no one else on tour, we will need to charge your card the equivalent of 2 people.

Testimonials

Memorable Night Walk Santamaria Night Walk

We saw sleeping birds, tarantulas, pit viper, frogs, and two sloths, which we would have never seen as two-toed are nocturnal. Wear good sturdy shoes and bring a flashlight if you can. They also provide one for you if you don’t. Lovely experience.

Awesome Night Walk Santamaria Night Walk

We did this night walk, and it was incredible. We saw four sloths in total, a juvenile, an adult, and then a mama with a baby. The tour guide also showed us a scorpion that is only visible through black light. He got a tarantula to come out of hiding.

Fantastic Night Walk Santamaria Night Walk

We got lucky, and only the two of us went out (private tour!). The guide was very knowledgeable and GREAT at spotting animals. He went out of his way to detour the routes to help us see certain animals we wanted to see. Fantastic Nature Tour.
