The Cloud Forest Tour is a light 2.5-hour walk in the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. Participants will join a small group of eight tourists led by a local tour guide who will share lots of knowledge of the local flora and fauna with the audience. The guide will bring nature books for reference and an HD spotting scope that the group will use to help them spot some wildlife, including beautiful birds in the distance, such as the Resplendent Quetzal.
After the tour ends, the group will split, and the participants can opt to continue hiking throughout the reserve using a map they can get at the reception.
The cloud forest tour is $25 for residents (all ages), $25 for foreign kids (5 to 11 years old), and $30 for foreign adults (12 and up). The prices do not include transportation, entrance fee to the Monteverde Reserve, and the parking lot fee, which the participants will need to pay for before the tour begins.
The cloud forest tour starts from Cafe Colibri, a small coffee shop with a hummingbird garden, next to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. Participants should arrive at least five minutes before the tour start time, which they can select between 7:30 am, 11 am, and 1:30 pm at the time of booking.
The parking lot fee is only due when you opt-in to leave your car in the official parking lot, which is one kilometer away from the reserve. If you choose to park there, the reserve will provide you with shuttles to take you to the reserve and then back to the parking lot. Alternatively, you can drive up to the reserve and park along the side of the road, understanding that there are no private security guards in there.
