Are Tips Included?

Tips or gratuities are excluded from the booking fee. We recommend you tip our guides between $10 and $25 per couple/family.

What is your cancellation policy?
We have a flexible cancelation policy.

After you book online, you will get an automatic confirmation email. This confirmation email contains a “Cancel” button, so you can easily cancel online without talking to anyone (no need to provide explanations).

If you cancel at least 24 hours before the activity day, you will get a full refund (otherwise, there will not be a refund). For example, if your tour is on February 28 at 8:30 AM, you should cancel before February 27 at 0:00 AM to get a refund. You will not get a refund if you cancel on February 27 at 0:01 AM or later.

Is there a parking fee at your location?

We offer free parking for all our tours except for our Monteverde Cloud Forest Tour, as we will need to park in private parking near the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. Parking there has an additional fee of $5 (USD), which you must pay on the tour date.

Are there bathrooms available?

There are bathrooms available near the entrance or meeting point.

Do I need a reservation, or can we walk in?

All visitors must have a reservation. Walk-ins are not allowed due to the limited capacity the trail can handle.

There’s also a new government limit on the number of visitors each park can allow (which changed due to COVID-19). Click the “Book Now” button for real-time availability and reservations.

Suppose you’re trying to book and need help finding availability online. In that case, you may contact us (our contact information is at the bottom of this page) to see if we have any last-minute cancellations that may free up the needed spots.

Is my credit card charged at the time of the reservation?

We will charge your card at the time of reservation. You will get an instant confirmation email, and your bank statement will show a line labeled “FH* Monteverde Tours.”

What happens if it rains?

Our tours generally operate under most weather conditions (including rain) unless it is risky for participants (such as during heavy thunderstorms). If you arrive at the park and the weather prevents us from letting you in, we can reschedule or give you a full refund.

What should we bring on the tour?

For our Zipline Tours, please bring sunscreen and comfortable hiking clothing. Do not bring your smartphone, wallet, loose shoes/sandals, or any other item that can fall off as you zipline.

For all our other Monteverde Tours, please bring sunscreen, a smartphone or camera for pictures, and binoculars (optional).

What should we wear?

Please wear comfortable hiking clothing for ziplining tours, including long pants and a cape, if it’s raining on the tour day. Do not wear loose shoes/sandals, as they can fall off as you zipline.

For all other tours, please bring sunscreen, a smartphone or camera for pictures, and binoculars (optional).

Where do we check-in for the tour, and how soon should we arrive?

After booking online, you will get a confirmation email with the Google Maps location with driving instructions to get to the meeting point. You should arrive at least 10 minutes before your tour starting time.

If you don’t have a car to get to us, you can add transportation for an additional fee when booking online. Type in the name and address of your Hotel/Airbnb, and we will happily pick you up 30 to 60 minutes before the tour starts. We’ll also take you back.

How can I change or reschedule a tour?

After booking online, you will get an instant confirmation email, which you can reply to if you have any questions or need to change your booking or reschedule a tour as long as you do this at least 24 hours before the activity day. For example, if your tour is on February 28 at 8:30 AM, you should reply to your confirmation email with your desired changes before February 27 at 0:00 AM to get a refund. In this example, we can’t change if you respond to your confirmation email on February 27 at 0:01 AM or later.

Do you offer any discounts?

We only offer discounts to repeat customers and large parties (usually more than 10 participants). If you meet this requirement, please get in touch with our friendly customer service staff instead of booking online.

Is there availability for last-minute bookings?

All visitors must have a reservation. Walk-ins are not allowed.

When COVID-19 emerged, the government imposed new capacity limits on some tours and parks, reinforcing the need to secure your spots in advance. Click the Book Now button under each offering for real-time availability and reservations.

If you’re trying to book a tour and need help finding availability online, we no longer have seats available for that day. However, you may contact our friendly customer service staff to see if we have any last-minute cancellations that may free up the spots you need.

Are there any age restrictions? If so, on what tours?

Our Birdwatching Tours are exclusive for adults due to their high-specialty nature, as are our Mountain Biking Tours due to their technicality and fitness level requirements.

On the other hand, our Waterfall Tours are suitable for ages 7+ due to the fitness requirements. In contrast, our Nature History Tours (aka Cloud Forest Tours), our Coffee Tours, our Night Tours, our Hanging Bridges Tours, and our Horseback Riding Tours are ideal for ages 6+ due to their low-impact, easy-pace nature.

And lastly, our Zipline Tours depend on each offering. For example, our Extremo Zipline Tour is only recommended for ages 18+ due to this tour’s fast and extreme nature, as is our Selvatura Zipline Tour due to high uphill hiking. In contrast, our Aventura Zipline Tour is best for teenagers due to its balance of safety and fun. Our Sky Trek Zipline Tour is our preferred choice for kids 6+ and first-timers due to its unique automatic brake system.

Do you offer transportation? If so, where do you pick up from?

If you don’t have a car to get to us, you can add transportation for an additional fee when booking online. Type in the name and address of your Hotel/Airbnb, and we will happily pick you up 30 to 60 minutes before the tour starts. We’ll also take you back.

Can I go on the tours if I am pregnant?

If you are pregnant, we recommend you go on our Nature and Cultural Tours (Birdwatching Tours | Nature History Tours | Night Tours | Hanging Bridges Tours | Coffee Tours) and avoid our Adventure Tours (Mountain Biking Tours | Zipline Tours | Horseback Riding Tours | Waterfall Tours).

Can we take photos and videos? Fly a drone?

We don’t allow flying drones on any of our tours to avoid compromising the safety of our visitors. However, we encourage you to bring your smartphone or camera to take memorable pictures, except on our Zipline Tours, because they might fall off as you zipline, though we have a photographer on these tours who will take photos during the excursion and will show them to you at the end, where you can purchase them for an additional fee.

Are there any lockers where we can store our stuff?

Most nature and adventure parks have lockers or safe parking places to store or leave your stuff, except for our Birdwatching Tours, where we park our vehicles in a public parking lot. For this specific tour, we recommend you keep your most valuable items at your Hotel/Airbnb and bring your smartphone, camera, or binoculars on the excursion.

Are infants allowed on the tours? Do you charge for infants?

Most of our Monteverde Tours are complex or require a minimum fitness level. Therefore, we don’t allow infants, except for our Sky Walk Hanging Bridges Tour, which has a paved trail accessible for wheelchairs and baby strollers.

Do you offer any food or drinks?

Most of our parks either have restaurants onsite or are close to public restaurants, and the best way to find out is to visit our Monteverde Tours page, then browse through your desired tour category and choose the tour offering that best fits what you’re looking for. Then, at the top of each offering page, you will see a “Quick Details” section indicating if that park has a restaurant onsite. Alternatively, after booking online, you will get a confirmation email with the Google Maps location to see all the restaurants nearby.

Check-in Time for tours?

The check-in time for our tours depends on each offering. Are you currently looking for help or hiring?

We’re not hiring at. You can still send your resume for us to review, and get back to you when an opportunity arises.

Do you offer pictures?

We encourage you to bring your smartphone or camera to take memorable pictures, except on our Zipline Tours, because they might fall off as you zipline. We have dedicated photographers on these tours who will take photos during the excursion and show them to you at the end, where you can purchase them for an additional fee.

Are there any special rates if we book with a hotel?

There are no special rates if you book with a hotel. We encourage you to use our website to book online, as this is the most straightforward way to see real-time availability and get your spots. We offer discounts to repeat customers and large parties (usually more than 10 participants). If you meet this requirement, please get in touch with our friendly customer service staff instead of booking online.

Do you offer private tours?

Many of our activities offer the ability to upgrade to a private tour, which profoundly enhances your experience, and the best way to find out is to visit our Monteverde Tours page, then browse through your desired tour category and choose the tour offering that best fits what you’re looking for. Then, as you begin the online booking process, you will see whether your activity offers private tour options. If you don’t see it, you may contact our friendly customer service staff to explore the possibilities of creating your own tailor-made, exclusive private tour.

Are there any weight, height, or size restrictions for the tours?

Our Zipline Tours, Mountain Biking Tours, and Horseback Riding Tours have weight and height restrictions as follows:

Zipline Tours: The weight restriction is 100 kilograms (220 pounds). You also must have a maximum waist of 122 centimeters (48 inches), a maximum height of 102 centimeters (40 inches), and a minimum height of 122 centimeters (4 feet). These restrictions ensure the harness will adequately fit your body, which is critical for safety reasons.

Mountain Biking Tours: The weight restriction is 122 kilograms (270 pounds), and the minimum height is 160 centimeters (5.2 feet) to ensure you can pedal and move the bike around quickly.

Horseback Riding Tours: The weight restriction is 92 kilograms (200 pounds), and the minimum height is 160 centimeters (5.2 feet) to avoid hurting the horse’s back and maneuvering them easily.

The rest of our Monteverde Tours don’t have any weight, height, or size restrictions.

How early should we arrive for our tour?

After booking online, you will get a confirmation email with the Google Maps location with driving instructions to get to the meeting point. You should arrive at least 10 minutes before your tour starting time.

Do you offer parking?

We offer free parking for all our tours except for our Monteverde Cloud Forest Tour, as we will need to park in private parking near the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. Parking there has an additional fee of $5 (USD), which you must pay on the tour date.

Is there a gift shop where I can buy things?

Most of our parks either have giftshops onsite or are close to public giftshops, and the best way to find out is to visit our Monteverde Tours page, then browse through your desired tour category and choose the tour offering that best fits what you’re looking for. Then, at the top of each offering page, you will see a “Quick Details” section indicating if that park has a gift shop. Alternatively, after booking online, you will get a confirmation email with the Google Maps location to see all the restaurants nearby.

Do we need to sign a waiver?

Some adventure activities, such as ziplining, require you to sign a waiver, which you will do at the park or meeting point.

How many ziplines does the tour include?

We offer four zipline tours in Monteverde, ranging from 7 to 14 ziplines each. Please visit our Zipline Tours page to see the options and determine which suits you best.

How many hanging bridges does the tour include?

We offer three hanging bridges tours in Monteverde, ranging from 6 to 8 bridges each. Please visit our Hanging Bridges Tours page to see the options and determine which suits you best.

Which birds will I see on your birdwatching tour?

We offer a 3-Hour Birdwatching Tour and a 5-Hour Birdwatching Tour, and we guarantee you will see many birds on both of them. However, the species you will see will depend on multiple factors, such as the time of the year, the weather on that day, and the birding spots we decide to visit.

Monteverde is home to more than 400 bird species, including renowned ones such as the Pharomachrus Mocinno (Resplendent Quetzal) and rarer species such as the Rufous-necked Wood-Rail.

We encourage you to use the comments section of our online reservation form to include the birds on your list that you’d like to see so that we can prepare in advance to do our best to help you achieve your Monteverde bird-watching objectives,

How many animals will I see on your night tour?

We offer three Monteverde Night Tours and guarantee you will see animals on any of them. However, the number and the species you will see will depend on multiple factors, such as the time of the year and the weather on that day.

Please note that nature is unpredictable, and while our expert tour guides will do their best to help you see as many animals as possible, it’s worth remembering that we’re on a nature tour, not a zoo tour. The animals will not be in cages; they’ll be in their natural habitat, which may make them hard (and sometimes impossible) to see.

What tours do you offer?

We offer over 30 tours in Monteverde, from Hanging Bridges to Ziplines to Waterfalls. We recommend you visit our Monteverde Tours page, browse your desired tour category, and choose the tour offering that best fits your needs.
